Young Lives, Quiet Desperation

He breathed deeply as he lay asleep on his bed, the white covers pulled upto his chin. The Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Center was quiet. As a night nurse,  I had never seen him fall asleep so early in al the nights that he was my patient. He looked so innocent as he dozed. In stark contrast to the wailing, screaming, kicking, biting, seizing boy. How it pained me to see him surrounded by unhappiness and insecurity. Even as he dreamed into the night waiting for another episode of his nightly seizures to commence, I wondered who his biological parents were and if they ever wondered about what he ate, where he slept…
